Respected Rural Development Commissioner Mr.V.N.Jithendran. I.A.S visited E.T.C. Thaliparamba on 17th February 2010.He started his carrier as a Block Development Officer and I.A.S. is conferred to him for his Excellence in service.
He motivated young rural architects, the V.E.O. trainees with his simple and humble speech. He gives a brief idea about the historical perspective of rural development programmes in India. He also mention the terms Decentralization, Participation and Empowerment.
From his speech ” National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (It has been renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) India is the first country in the world to enact a legislation for providing legal guarantee for one hundred days of employment in every financial year to one of the adult members of every family. The whole world is eagerly looking towards the progress of world’s largest employment programme.
Message from the Commissioner, a V.E.O. must have a sixth sense to find the poorest of the poor who were marginalized in the society.
